hypem: SOPA/PIPA legislation threatens the world wide web, and we oppose it.   Call, email, talk to your representatives, and join the fight to keep the internet open.  The effects of a world in which SOPA passes were made most evident to me when I tried to visit one of the sites I frequent most on a daily basis, the Hype Machine. This site provides me with all the new music I could ever want. Today, they are joining in on the protests by blacking out all the song info and whatnot. This makes me sad. I don’t want to live in a world where this is a reality. I can live without wikipedia, I can possibly live without reddit. Music, however, is something I need. I know, I know, SOPA doesn’t mean the end of music, but it will certainly change the ways in which we access our media, and the ways in which artists will be able to make their work available to their listeners. It’s a sad, sad day. Fuck SOPA
